Dicks Agrees to Public Debate in Sparse Population

After Weeks of Prodding by Cloud, Dicks Agrees to Face Off with Republican Challenger

TACOMA, WA – The Doug Cloud for US Congress Campaign today announced that Doug Cloud, candidate for U.S. Congress WA-06, will face off against sitting Congressman Norm Dicks in a public debate hosted by the League of Women Voters on October 13th. Although, not in the population center that Cloud had hoped for, the debate will be held in sparsely populated Sequim , WA .

"I'm pleased Congressman Dicks has finally decided to address his constituents in an unscripted environment," said Cloud.  "I feel it is only appropriate that the voters get to see first hand the choice they have when they go to the ballot box. This is going to be the most transparent way for voters to see both of us in our own words and decide for themselves who they want to represent them. We are, however, disappointed that we are not staging this in the center of the District where the population mass is, but this will at least be a start."

The debate is scheduled for Wednesday, October 13, from 2:00 — 3:00 p.m. , at the Sequim Community Church Fellowship Center , 950 N 5th St. , Sequim.  This event is sponsored by the League of Women voters of Clallam County and is co-sponsored by the American Association of University Women, radio station KONP, and the Sequim Gazette.

"I'm confident those who attend the debate will see the difference between us," said Cloud.  "I am committed to cleaning up the corruption in Congress and focusing on putting people back to work at jobs that pay a good wage so we can rejuvenate our economy and get out country to a place where it is flourishing again."

The event is free to the public and the doors open at 1:30 p.m.

  1. How cowardly can Dicks be. Why didn't he agree to have it in Neah Bay. I understand that there's a cabin there that holds 9 people. What is Dicks' residence address? He does have a house in Washington State, right? I feel that Doug should gather the troops and stand on his lawn demanding a debate the way ACORN and SEIU stood on the front porch of the Bank of America executive's home on Labor Day weekend.
