Cloud Calls for Debates

Cloud Challenges Dicks to Three Public Debates Before Ballots Go Out

TACOMA, WA – The Doug Cloud for US Congress campaign today announced that Doug Cloud, candidate for U.S. Congress WA-06, is challenging sitting Congressman Norm Dicks to a series of public debates prior to absentee ballots going out in October.

"We feel that recent reports in the media have risen questions concerning Norm Dicks' practices in office and the people of the 6th District deserve to have those questions answered," commented Chris Caillier, Campaign Manager for the Doug Cloud for Congress Campaign.  "A debate format would allow the voters to get direct answers from Congressman Dicks as well as see what Doug Cloud brings to the table.  This is just going to be the most transparent way for voters to see these two men in their own words and decide for themselves who they want to represent them."

Reports over the past several months have pointed to Congressman's Dicks' questionable earmarking and spending with the Puget Sound Partnership and the Norm Dicks Government Center.

"The people deserve to hear from their Representative," said Cloud.  "That's part of the responsibility of an elected official; you have an obligation to answer to the people who hired you and pay your salary.

"I'm disappointed that Congressman Dicks has consistently avoided any opportunity to appear in public in an unscripted environment," continued Cloud.  "I invite the Congressman to have three public debates before the ballots go out in October.  I just think that's the right thing to do."
