Lawsuit last week against the Department of Justice.

DOUG CLOUD FILES FOIA LAWSUIT AGAINST DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE TACOMA, WA

TACOMA, WA – To compel release of records and files pertaining to the FBI investigation of Congressman Norm Dicks, Tacoma attorney Doug Cloud filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit last week against the Department of Justice.

Rep. Dicks was investigated as a result of his multi-decade association with PMA Group, a Washington D.C. based lobbying firm whose CEO was found guilty of making illegal campaign contributions to elected officials. Congressman Dicks had received over $500,000 of campaign contributions from PMA Group, its employees, and PMA clients.

Doug Cloud released the following statement concerning the lawsuit:

“It’s unfortunate the Department of Justice is playing politics again, this time to protect Norm Dicks from possible embarrassment. The DOJ has refused to come clean and release the records in question.

They claim there is no overriding public interest in the release of these records. If a possible crime by a senior member of Congress is not a matter of overriding public interest, then no documents in any case should ever be released.

In addition to the PMA Group, Dicks has repeatedly sponsored legislation that conveniently benefits clients directly associated with his former employees and contributors.”

Mr. Dicks has also participated in questionable activity with other lobbying firms like the Spectrum Group, once accepting a free trip on behalf of the lobbying firm.

The complaint was filed in United States District Court for the Western District of Washington on September 28, 2011. Doug Cloud is representing the plaintiffs Philip Watson and Cloud for Congress Committee Inc. as their attorney.

Newest Poll Shows Cloud Leads Over Dicks

Definitely Voting For/Leaning Towards Cloud Out-Numbers Dicks' Votes

TACOMA, WA – On Thursday the Cloud for Congress Campaign received the newest poll results, which legitimized what they knew all along. "We are winning this election and the momentum has been building for our team the last few weeks. Our message is obviously resonating with the voters and they will not stand for the status quo," Doug Cloud reasoned after viewing the newest poll results from Wenzel Strategies, a respected national polling company out of Ohio .

The most notable results in the poll came in the question that asked "If the election for the United States Congress were today and the candidates were Republican Doug Cloud and Democrat Norm Dicks, for whom would you vote?" The answer options were "definitely for Cloud, leaning for Cloud, definitely for Dicks, leaning for Dicks, and not sure". Doug Cloud received a combined 609 votes for "definitely for" and "leaning for" while Dicks only received 558 for the 2 answers. 95 were still unsure.

Another question in the poll supports Cloud's belief that voters are disenchanted with the entrenched incumbent Norm Dicks. The question asks "The current Congressional representative for this district is Democrat Norm Dicks. Do you think he deserves to be re-elected, or is it time for someone new?" 53% of the people polled said that they were either definitely voting for someone else or considering it.

"This is the year that people want real, earth-shaking change. They will not put up with the lack luster, corrupt Congress that we have come to know and Norm Dicks is the biggest offender! The newest poll now clearly shows that the political tide has changed and we are in the midst of a historic election," Cloud explained.

The poll was conducted with 1,262 likely voters in a cross section of District counties, with polling percentages equal to the actual percentage of votes cast in that county. Wenzel Strategies out of Toledo , OH conducted the polling via telephone on October 18th and 19th, 2010. Margin of error is a +/- 2.72 percentage points.

The Most Unique Political Ad This Year

As Dicks Makes Efforts to "Duck" debates, Cloud Campaign Releases Humorous Ad

The Cloud for Congress campaign is releasing the most humorous, yet hard-hitting political ad this year following the debate controversy with Congressman Norm Dicks.

The content of the commercial portrays how real-life stimulus monies are redirected back into an entrenched Congressman's campaign funds through a series of events. As far stretching as it seems, this is actually based on substantiated information from Federal reporting sites and an official audit from the state of Washington .

"This commercial, although humorous in form, explains in very elementary terms how corrupt our current Congressman actually is," Cloud explains, "this form of corruption and waste must end now and the public must be informed on how blatant it really is."

DVD copies of this commercial are available at the Cloud or Congress Campaign headquarters in Tacoma at 901 South "I" Street, Suite 101, Tacoma, WA 98405. Electronic copy can be provided for those that are out of the area.

A debate between Congressman Norm Dicks and Doug Cloud is scheduled for Wednesday, October 13th at 2pm at the Sequim Community Church , 950 North 5th Avenue, Sequim , WA. The debates (or lack thereof) between Dicks and Cloud have gained national and local attention.

Cloud is available Monday and Thursday all day for media interview. Friday availability is between 10AM-1PM.
